Writing Keeps Me Away From The Dreaded Doomscroll
1 min read
I write because it keeps me away from doom scrolling.
Writing has been a great way for me to avoid walking down the pointless road of endless scrolling. Aka doom scrolling.
Writing is simply a better way for me to use my time.
There are countless distractions these days, one could easily waste their days engaged in meaningless things.
I choose to write more rather than doomscroll my life to oblivion.
I’ve already given thousands of precious hours of my life to social media and online greedy corporatocracies, receiving little in return. All the scrolling away isn’t worth the cheap dopamine hit.
Writing is a more settling activity for my nervous system.
When I doomscroll, my mind turns to mush, and I’m left feeling uninspired and exhausted physically and mentally.
Writing more is a needed creative outlet for me. It helps clear my mind and keeps me focused on exploring the ideas, projects and mindsets that bring harmony and wholesomeness to my life.
My writing is not all pretty and is about exploring bliss and joy. I write horrendous things sometimes.
Painful and raw stories, memories and experiences that break me open once again. I'm left feeling vulnerable and exposed after such writing. Yet deep inside it still feels right. It still feels worthy of my time.
I want to know my life didn't while away, with my head stuck in Facebook, YouTube or another platform forever. There is more to life to be enjoyed, experienced and expressed than the platforms would like us to believe.
So I write instead of doom scrolling, as it returns me to myself.
Writing is an activity worthy of my heartbeats, so I’d rather spend my time putting words in coherent sentences that bridge my inner and outer life.
